Meanwhile the MFP (Multi-Function Peripherals) business unit posted annual growth of 36% Y-o-Y, and the operating results of Perlos, Lite-On’s wholly owned subsidiary has gradually improved, turning profitable in 2009.

In September 2009, Lite-On officially opened its East China Regional Headquarters in Wujin, Changzhou, which serves as the company’s first Green Energy base. All of the facilities, from buildings to production lines, impact renewable energies in some way, from energy creation, conversion, storage and saving, to the reduction of CO2 emissions. The opening of the East China Regional Headquarters will not only boost Lite-On’s global supply chain management and cost efficiency, but also facilitate the Lite-On Group’s further expansion into the green energy industry, leveraging Lite-On’s leading advantages in the global information and communication technology industries.

As for Lite-On’s 2010 outlook, with steady demand from worldwide PC, Communication, Consumer and Automotive electronics markets, Lite-On not only has firm control of relevant components and peripherals supplies, but also possesses strong supply management competence and a concentrated production base. Lite-On demonstrates a strong capability to capture profitable growth opportunities.

Meanwhile, Lite-On has successfully expanded its business in renewable energies and new illuminant industries. Lite-On Green Technologies, Inc. In early 2010, the Lite-On Group successfully produced a power system for sightseeing solar electric boats, the first environmental-friendly high-power commercial sightseeing solar-electric boat launched in Asia, which is operated by the government of Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. The success of building that power system added a new force driving the Lite-On Group’s further growth in the green energy industries.

In the new illuminant industry, Lite-On possess a full range of LED illuminating production lines including indoor lighting, outdoor lighting, and 4C applications. Leotek, a subsidiary of Lite-On Technology Corp, successfully installed thousands of LED street lights in several major provinces, aggressively expanding LED street lighting business across China, becoming a worldwide leader of LED illumination providers.

As a result of Lite-On’s continuous efforts to implement Corporate Social Environmental Responsibility policies, and its outstanding performance in that respect, Lite-On Technology Corp became the first Taiwanese optoelectronics company invited to join as a formal member of the EICC in 2008, and won a Corporate Social Responsibility Award from Global Views Magazine every year since 2005.
