About Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI)
The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes were launched in 1999 as the first global sustainability benchmarks. The indexes are offered as part of a cooperative effort by Dow Jones Indexes and the SAM (Sustainable Asset Management). DJSI invites the worldwide top 2,500 companies of 58 sectors for the evaluation, tracking their performances in terms of economic, environmental and social dimensions and selects the top 10% of each sector to be listed as its members. The indexes serve as benchmarks for investors who integrate sustainability considerations into their portfolios, and provide an effective engagement platform for companies who want to adopt sustainable best practices. The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes comprise global and regional benchmarks including Asia Pacific, North American, and European indexes.
