Lite-On Technology (TW 2301) today reported December consolidated revenue of NT$10.97 billion, up 3% M-o-M and 18% Y-o-Y, hitting a record nine-quarter monthly high, mainly attributable to the rise in order intakes in Strategic Business Groups, coupled with stable global market demand. Fourth-quarter revenue reached 32.06 billion, up 2% Q-o-Q and 10%Y-o-Y, while consolidated revenue for the entire year of 2012 reaching NT$121.45 billion, up 2% over 2011.
In December, thanks to a steady increase in the demand of mobile devices and cloud computing applications, Lite-On’s core business units showed steady growth, of which the Power Supply and the Connected Devices & System Solutions SBG posted growths of 11% Y-o-Y and 7% Y-o-Y respectively. Moreover, in the Optoelectronics SBG, Camera Module revenue grew by approximately 90% Y-o-Y, hitting a new monthly sales record high, supported by its production capacity expansion and smooth delivery of high-end products, as well as the sequential gains in the global market-share of smart-phones and Tablet PCs. Meanwhile, thanks to substantial demand from branded customers and delivery growth, revenue from LED lighting components increased approximately 200% Y-o-Y, and total revenue from the LED business unit increased approximately 20% Y-o-Y. As a result, the Optoelectronics SBG posted a monthly revenue growth of 60% Y-o-Y.
Additionally, the HIS (Human Input Solutions-PC keyboards and peripherals) business unit in the Mechanical Competence SBG also enjoyed a growth of approximately 20% Y-o-Y, hitting a record high in December resulting from increased shipments of keyboards for tablet PCs and ongoing global market share gains in desktop and notebook PCs.
