LITE-ON Reports First Three Quarters’ Revenue of NT$160.4 Billion with EPS of NT$0.14

LITE-ON Technology (2301-tw) today reported the third quarter 2017 consolidated revenue of NT$56 billion, up 6% Q-o-Q. Power Management in Cloud Computing, AI Smart Home devices, LED/ Outdoor lighting, Storage and Gaming related products posted continued growth, whereas the inventory adjustment, coupled with the one-off asset impairment loss in Mobile Mechanics of about NT$7 billion, resulted in the third quarter gross profit margin and operating profit margin of 12.3% and 3.2% respectively, and net loss of NT$3.4 billion with loss per share of NT$1.47. Cumulated sales from January through September 2017 reached NT$160.4 billion, and the gross profit margin and operating profit margin were 12.8% and 3.8% respectively; profit before tax was NT$289 million and net profits totaled NT$331 million with EPS of NT$0.14. Meanwhile, net cash reached NT$26.2 billion through aggressive working capital management, after the distribution of cash dividend and employee bonus of NT$8.3 billion in the third quarter.

The Optoelectronics business segment contributed a 22% share of LITE-ON’s sales in the third quarter. Although supported by the growing demand from invisible LED, ongoing market share gains in LED components and the smooth delivery of LED street lights and vehicle lighting, the inventory adjustment resulted in the Optoelectronics a revenue decrease of 12% Q-o-Q in the third quarter.

The Information Technologies business accounted for 56% of total sales, of which, Power business achieved remarkable growth supported by increased shipment from high-end server and networking power management systems of cloud computing and power supplies of AI Smart Home, Mobile and Gaming Devices; meanwhile ongoing market share gains in HIS (Human Input Solutions - PC Keyboards and Peripherals) also supported the Information Technologies to post a revenue growth of 9% Q-o-Q.

The Storage business accounted for 16% of total revenue, up 18% Q-o-Q, thanks to the increasing end demands.

Stable business development is expected in the fourth quarter, supported by sequential growth from LED/ Outdoor Lighting, Cloud Computing and AI Smart Home devices.
