The most noted industrial design competition in Taiwan—2005 Lite-On Awards is now ready for entry

Today's "Technology" is no longer just machines or technical capabilities. Innovative designs coupled with its ability to find integration into everyone's daily life are the steering trend into the future. In 2004, near 1,000 submissions were competing for the Lite-On Award. For 2005, Lite-On Award is cordially inviting all ground-breaking creations under the theme of "Mobile 3C" that draws technology even closer to daily life, such as mobile phones, PDA, handheld PCs…etc. In addition to continue holding series of campus lectures, conferences, and forums relevant to the subject of industrial design, we will expand with new activities, such as Day of Facing the International Referee, ID Talents Training Program…etc.

Lite-On continues to embrace its mission toward "innovation", "technology", "retaining talent" and "enhancing Taiwan's competitiveness in creativity." By sponsoring these increasingly sophisticated and professional competitions, we discover more and more promising stars with the potential for pioneering industrial design. Lite-On Award saw a plethora of achievements in 2004: the student group participants alone were around 1,000 students from 46 universities in China (21) and Taiwan (25). Since the inception of the Lite-On Award, we have progressively extended the geographic area as well as the scope of competition. It has unquestionably become the most renowned Industrial Design event for the Chinese professionals on both sides of the Strait.

All Chinese from Taiwan or abroad(people have Chinese surnames or certificate of Chinese ancestry) that find interest in industrial design or those pursuing a career in industrial design, are all invited to participate in the aforementioned professional or student group of the 2005 Lite-On Award competition. Each group will be reviewed and rewarded independently.

Aside from the cash rewards, Lite-On this year is offering professional training opportunities for the discovered talents. The winners of the student group will earn internship opportunities at Lite-On, bringing the inspiration from the lab into the real world. Deadline for the submission is March 1st, 2005. Please consult the website for more details regarding the requirements for participation. http://www.liteonaward.com
