Lite-On Tech announces to reduce 10% CO2 emission by 2011

“Have you unplugged your DT/NB today?” is the new “Hello” for Liteoner in the Lite-On building recently. Lite-On Technology Corporation, the one which concentrates on driving the implementation of green life and has become the pioneer of comprehensive “green technology supply chain” held its Green Family Day today. David Lin, the CEO of Lite-On Group along with thousands of employees and their families jointly announce that Lite-On will reduce 10% CO2 by 2011. Minister Stephen Shu-hung Shen from Environment Protection Administration Executive Yuan and the company’s supply chain partners were also to witness this special moment.

In addition, Lite-On Tech. launched the “A tree for me, a forest for thee” campaign to encourage all employees to adopt trees. Raymond Soong, the Chairman of Lite-On Group, adopted 2,000 trees in hope to set a good example for every Liteoner. Through this campaign, Lite-On plans to adopt at least 20,000 trees, which can reduce 15 metric tons of CO2 emission every year, equivalent to the CO2 emitted by driving 68,000 kilometers (which is to travel around the Taiwan Island 68 times).

To make every effort to be a good corporate citizen, Lite-On Tech.'s manufacturing processes, products and materials are all in accordance with international environmental regulations, such as RoHS, Eup, WEEE, etc and has jointed EICC recently. Internally, Lite-On Tech. also put many energy-saving measures into practice, such as using LED lightbulbs, avoid using disposable utensils, bringing handkerchief rather than paper towel and so on. “Energy saving should be a life style rather than a campaign,” is what Lite-On Tech. wants to convey to its employees.
