LITEON Technology Corporation has won a Corporate Citizenship Award from Common Wealth Magazine for fourteen years in a row. In addition to the projects of community assistance program, community college, LITEON Award, educational support, and corporate volunteer system, LITEON further implemented marine conservation initiative, green energy charity projects and ecofriendly sustainable technology products by consecutively cooperating with communities, NGOs, government and academia as actions in response to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Jury of Common Wealth Magazine regarded LITEON as one of the pioneers that actively invest in CSR in Taiwan, appreciating its continuing to innovate so that all aspects of CSR can benefit the social, environmental and economic development with its firm and sustained practice. and affirmed the award once again.
“LITEON has always attached importance to operational transparency and corporate governance, actively implemented the company’s sustainability strategy, and took responsible actions in environmental protection. LITEON established a corporate sustainability committee directly reporting the Board of Directors in 2019 to actively support and strengthen corporate governance mechanisms related to environmental sustainability. Meanwhile, LITEON committed to reduce carbon emission per unit revenue by 39.3% by 2025, which greenhouse gas emission reduction target has been approved by SBTi (Science-Based Targets initiative),” said Mr. Anson Chiu, President of LITEON Technology.
Moreover, in response to SDGs, LITEON started the marine waste recycling program in 2018 to convert the recycled marine waste Styrofoam into recycled plastic, and further make computer peripheral products, such as keyboards, mice, etc., by cooperating with a social enterprise processing Styrofoam marine waste and Environmental Protection Bureau of Penghu County. This year, LITEON has further donated the world's first containers that can process marine waste Styrofoam on-site and significantly reduce the shipping volume by 90% to the Penghu and Kinmen county governments respectively, expecting to process over 50 tons of marine waste Styrofoam on-site each year. For Social inclusion, LITEON worked on the Yilan Julin Nursing Private Institution Green Energy Charity Project, combining an environmental protection marathon, green energy and carbon reduction, and social assistance. It is expected to generate power of 35,000 kWh, reduce carbon emissions by 370 tons CO2e in total per year and save 10% of its electricity expenses after completion. The Julin Nursing Private Institution will be able to receive additional income from trading renewable energy with Taiwan Renewable Energy Certification (T-REC) in the future.
LITEON was ranked “A- list’ in 2019 CDP Climate Change this year, has been selected as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for ninth consecutive years, and included in the Constituent MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes for seven consecutive years. In Taiwan, LITEON was awarded the First Prize in Electronics Technology Industry of the annual overall CSR survey of 2020 Corporate Social Responsibility Award from Global Views Magazine, ranked on the Top 5% listed companies of 2020 Corporate Governance Evaluation by Taiwan Stock Exchange, consecutively certified as a constituent in the FTSE4Good Taiwan Index Plus (TIP) Taiwan ESG Index, and awarded “Corporate Citizenship” Award from Common Wealth Magazine for 14th straight years. Moreover, LITEON also won the Most Prestigious Sustainability Award—Top Ten Domestic Corporates, Climate Leadership Award and Corporate Sustainability Report Platinum Award from TCSA in 2019.
