Lite-On Group’s full range of LED illuminating products lights up the World

Today, Lite-On Tech, pioneer of the LED industry in Taiwan, announced a full range of “Love the Earth, beginning with LED” illuminating products, together with its subsidiary companies. Lite-On Group boasts an extensive LED product mix and well- positioned distribution channels in the Europe, America, Africa and Asia markets. It enjoys strong growth in market share along with rising demand from the market. LED illuminating products are estimated to contribute NT$4 billion to the Lite-On Group’s revenue in 2009 and that figure is expected to multiply in the following year.

Lite-On Group has contributed to Taiwan’s LED industry for 34 years. Capitalizing on its vertically-integrated supply chain and strong distribution channel in the Europe, America, Africa and Asia markets, along with certifications under the strict regulations of many nations, the Lite-On Group is aggressively taking advantage of the Greater China Market. As a leader in the global LED illuminating market, Lite-On Group’s full range of LED products includes indoor and outdoor lighting, signage, LED automotive lamp modules and backlighting for 3C applications, such as notebook PC, mobile phones and LED TVs.

Lite-On Group exhibited today a total of 37 new LED products including outdoor lighting (18 types), indoor lighting (12 types), and 4C application products (7 types). Lite-On’s Opto Business Unit offers a wide range of power saving LED illuminating products with the state-of-the-art backlight module technology for notebook computers, LED TVs and other end products, while Lite-On’s subsidiary, Leotek, provides general lighting products, traffic and transit signal modules, commercial signage, street lighting, and LED cooler lighting. Additionally, Lite-On Automotive displayed LED rear combination lamp, third brake light and LED daytime running lights. Great opportunities for growth are anticipated with respect to the LED daytime running lights, boosted by the EU measures to require use of such products from 2011. Meanwhile, optical disc drive maker, Lite-On IT revealed a Table Mood LED lamp with patented gesture control technology, designed to combine colorful atmosphere and low power consumption with a long product life.

Leotek’s LED illuminating products are being installed globally and its traffic and transit products enjoy market share of about 30% in the United States. Over 350 thousand Leotek LED traffic and transit modules are installed annually, including reaching almost 100% penetration in San Francisco. Leotek is the main supplier to South Africa, where it enjoys a 50% market share. Leotek is also strongly moving into the India and Malaysia markets. Meanwhile Leotek’s street lights have been installed in more than 200 cities in the United States, including being the major qualified supplier of street lights to Los Angeles, with 140 thousand units sold within 5 years. Leotek’s indoor and outdoor lighting and LED cooler lighting products have been successfully installed in chain stores and gas stations across North America, in the Stockholm airport in Sweden, the Milan opera house, chain convenient stores in Japan, worldwide fast food chain stores and worldwide automotive dealers’ commercial signage.

Following years of cultivating distribution channels in the China market, the Lite-On Group has supplied thousands of LED street lights across China, including in Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangzhou, and Jiangxi. The Lite-On Group is now aggressively pursuing opportunities in China’s 10 largest cities for tens of thousands of street lights in each city, helping to transform the Lite-On Group from a 4’C company into a major member of the Green Energy Industry.

One fifth of all worldwide power is consumed by lighting, and evolving from old lighting devices is an essential component of the revolution for energy saving. Recognition of that fact is expected to provide the LED illuminating market with a 30% compound annual growth rate in coming years. Except for LED packaging, Lite-On Group is actively involved in every aspect of LED lighting applications. Lite-On Tech has long been the worldwide leader in the LED back light market, and is rapidly taking over the indoor lighting market. Lite-On Automotive is focusing on the LED automotive lamp market. And the Lite-On group invested in Leotek in 2007 to take full advantage of long-term prospects for indoor and outdoor LED illuminating business, particularly in the Europe and America markets, along with capitalizing on other leading technologies to accelerate the Lite-On Group to exploit tremendous opportunities in commercial, home, outdoor and indoor LED illuminating markets.
